What you'll hear

Picture this: you're standing by the road, watching for your school bus, but it's already ten minutes late. You glance at your watch, then it hits you — your IT textbook. It's sitting right there on your desk at home.

And it’s first period today. And you have a pop quiz. This isn't just a late bus; it's a full-blown problem that needs solving, and fast!

Today, we're going to break down how to tackle situations like this, using what I like to call your 'Problem-Solving Playbook'. The first step in any problem-solving process is to **define the problem**. It sounds obvious, right?

But it’s where most people go wrong. Your problem isn't just 'the bus is late' or 'I forgot my book'. The real problem is: 'I need my IT textbook for an important quiz in first period, and I don't have it, and time is running out.'

See how much more specific that is? Defining it clearly helps you focus on what actually needs to be fixed. Once you know exactly what the problem is, the next step is to **gather information and analyze**.

What do you know about the situation? The bus is late. You have a quiz.

Your book is home. What else?
