Is StudyBuddy safe for my child?

It's one of the first things parents ask, and it's the right question. Here's what StudyBuddy collects, what it doesn't, and what you can see and control.

We ask for very little

The only personal details we ask for are names and email addresses. For a child's profile, that's your child's name and grade. We collect as little as we can, and we never sell personal data.

No advertising

There are no ads inside StudyBuddy. Your child can study without being shown things to buy.

Children under 13

A child under 13 can only create their own account after confirming that a parent or guardian has given permission. Or you can create the account yourself and add your child's profile. Either way, you can view, change or remove your child's profile at any time.

Ask Buddy chats

Ask Buddy helps students understand a question. Chats are saved so your child can look back at them. Our team may read conversations to make sure Buddy's answers are accurate, kind and right for children. Chats are never sold or used for advertising, and you can ask us to delete them at any time.

Like any helper, Buddy can occasionally get something wrong, so it's worth checking important answers with a textbook or teacher.

Payments

Card details are handled by Stripe and mobile money by MMG, so StudyBuddy never sees or stores your full card number. StudyBuddy+ is paid once for the time you choose and never renews or charges you again by itself.

You can see how they're doing

A parent account is free, and every parent sees each child's weekly summary. The full report comes with StudyBuddy+.

Deleting your data

If you ask us to delete your account, we delete your personal data within 30 days, except payment records we must keep by law. Email hello@studybuddy.gy from the email address on the account.
